Adjustments
These are pictures I took yesterday (look close at the WESTON - the round tall building- and you can see all the windows that are missing from the tornado last week). These were all taken from the bus ride home with my new camera. Oh? Did I mention that I got a NEW new one? Brand new, not off craigslist- I know, I know- who am I? But I broke down and got the one I wanted brand new for $20 less than it was on craigslist- I don't know why- I tried to reason with a couple sellers. Lately when it comes to Nikons and "vintage" bicycles on Atlanta craigslist prices are soaring and overinflated. I don't know why either since either one doesn't have anything to do with oil or gas prices. Anyhow, I am **THRILLED** with the D40, it is SUPER DUPER lightweight and just blows me away with the high quality photos in low-quality situations. It's super easy to use too, like an old 35mm film camera back in the day- simple. More to come on this subject in the future.
Meanwhile here in the present, the ING is this weekend. I know I've been quiet on this subject here lately as it draws near. I hate to say it out loud, but Matt and I both are bowing out and switching to the half vs. the full. Neither of us held up our training schedules for the last 5-6 weeks. I figure if we do the whole sure we'll finish, but we will most likely be injured and could cause more damage than good. I was really excited a couple months ago, but I just don' think I'm up for the whole 26 miles this weekend. I want to save my feet for the 'trail' this May. Regardless it will be a fun day, the route is fabulous as it goes through the city as a tour of all of Atlanta. The people lining the roads were great last year- I couldn't believe how many people came out to cheer on the runners/walkers! It will be fun and since we're so close to the start/finish now it will be just a short MARTA ride home.
I might not look very cool, but I sure FEEL cool! I'm working on my beater bike a little at a time.
It came with this huge lock (forgotten combo) around her neck that I had to have the guys at the jobsite cut off with a bandsaw! I took the broken crappy mirror thingy off, and taped up the seat a nice "hamburgler" purple/pinkish color and adjusted it so it actually is comfortable and I don't slip down and my legs can fully extend. I cleaned her up a little too, but have to do a real tune up here this weekend if I get a chance. I really want to learn to tweak and do my own maintenance without the bike shop guys. There is SO much info on fixing up bikes out there, lots of inspiration too from REAL commuters -bloggers. Still got some work and a learning curve to conquer, but here she is. I think she is really enjoying the rides- I am guessing she has sat more than she has been rode. She was a little rusty at first but is feeling more broken in already!
