Bike Miles Yesterday: 12.1

I rode home in rain. It was my first rain day and was a lot more fun than I expect. I saw the clouds rolling in from a co-workers windows, as my office has no windows on the 19th floor. I hurried to get everything together. My original plan was to work late, but with the rain coming I thought maybe I can beat it. I didn't want to get caught in a terincial downpour as I wasn't prepared with only 1 little plastic grocery bag to protect ipod, 2 cell phones, fabulous camera, among a few other things. As I forgot several items and had to go back up to the office several times and dropping my helmet on my way out the fancy lobbyway, I realized it was already a downpour. I slowly got myself together and unlocked my bike from the dryness of the parking garage and shrugged- at least it's a nice temp fo 80*. I needed to pick up a few things on my way home, but decided not to get the work supplies as I didn't have the room in the plastic bag for protecting them. So I decided to just ride straight home. By the time I was half way home it had stopped raining and the humidity felt like a smoke filled room. It was hard to breathe and to see much. But at the same time it felt fresh and I felt alive with mud on my legs and face and hands, grit in my teeth. This was my second week at the new job, and commuting full time by bike. I LOOOVEEE my bike rides to and from, I may be living FOR them right now.
This Friday I'm planning to go ride in Critical Mass ride for my first time, am looking forward to meeting and hanging out with some other bikey people. In the meantime my bike needs a bath from the grit of the rain, and I've got to get these ugly stickers off! They look like they have a clear coat over them or something???
These are some pictures from the ride home and the ride to work that day.
