After 626 days of living in Georgia and feeling out of sorts and more sick for home then ever, it dawned on me. I don't feel complete without seeing the sunset. The outline of the majestic mountains back in Alaska are burned into my soul and my heart. There are no mountains to be seen in Atlanta, Georgia or anywhere within an hour or more drive that paints a picture at dusk that brings a tear to your eye. After wrestling for months about if this was the right decision to stay in the south or if I had in fact completely lost my mind, and myself...I found the peace I had missed so much and didn't realize how much I needed.

I had settled into becoming lazy and not having to do much of anything around the house. In the city there is no wood to carry, gardens to plant, snow to shovel, etc. It's very easy to get lazy I found, I had no reason to be active outside of work and socializing. So I decided to start walking, everyday, besides my dogs really needed to get out of the house! After numerous loops around our neighborhood we found a perfect moment....one evening as we walked down Dekalb Ave along the Marta line, I could see the high-rise buildings that make up Mid-Town Atlanta, the sun was nestled in between two buildings just perfect. It was that perfect going down, down, down...gone moment. I almost cried because it felt so good to see the pink and orange colors melt away! Where I lived when I first moved to Atlanta I couldn't see the sunset or sunrise anywhere in my neighborhood- it is like I reconnected with a dear old friend! 7:45pm the sun sets every night, its a strange and beautiful thing to an Alaskan girl.
