It's been a long time since I rode my bike(s). I used to be a bike junkie, that's what I called myself. When I had money, I couldn't have enough bikes. Now I'm down to two, just my roadie and my MTB, which neither get the attention they deserve. I read about biking all the time, especially since I found the world of cyclist blogs, which actually inspired me to start this blog.
My first year in Atlanta I rode everyday, I was living near the Silver Comet Trail. Then I just stopped one day. I still keep my roadie in the house, she gets petted once in awhile, then I leash up the boys and go for a walk instead. I must of watched too many cartoons as a kid, because I always picture my bike letting out a big ol' sigh and looking droopy and sad as I leave with the dogs. Like the cars in the Chevron commercials.

I have these up and downs in my life with things- like cycling or running or just working out in general. For quite a long period I will not be able to get enough- I will eat, sleep, dream whatever my focus is, then I'll just stop one day, cold turkey. I'll burn myself out and then one day just as sudden I'll pick it back up. This morning I rode for the first time in a long time. I told Matt I had to check out my layered clothing options, since I'm planning to ride to my new part time job at the bakery on the weekend mornings. I really needed to get back in the saddle and see if I could still ride! My legs weren't there, they were working, but with no real heart. My lungs totally were absent! I've got some work to do there on the ol' girl. But I know from experience how quickly those miles start adding up and how the rides are so easy to increase each time out.
