Biking Mileage: 7.41
January Miles Biked: 12.85

A little about biking, me and biking. I longingly read the biking blogs out there daily- there is a lot of them. Once the bike gets you- it's in you, it becomes part of you, I am one of those people, but I don't ride much anymore....Why don't I bike more? I'm not sure, the excuse in 2007 was my ipod died and it was no fun without music and the traffic in the city scares the daylights out of me! But that's not totally true and 2008 is my year of no excuses, so I will ride more, besides it's time to just deal with the traffic and I did get a new ipod for Christmas. My beautiful Trek 1000 lives in the house, it is a house bike and gets petted regularly and has a few sad trainer miles on her from last year, but just begs to be riden and loved. Riding is such a great way to get out and cover miles and see the sights! You feel like your one with everything and yet totally stand out.

So I rode last night with Petey sitting out because of his foot pad being sensitive, he was licking it when I got home yesterday after work. It was warm, but I thought once I got going (fast) it might be cool, so I opted (in my inexperience) for my long riding pants and long sleeves, I even brought gloves just in case! Duh- factor in the humidity and it was way comfortably warm without even a slight hint at a chill. I was overdressed but not dying from the heat. Other than that I tried my best to stay on streets with a shoulder or bike lane and veered onto neighborhood streets where I have seen the local daily riders ride. All in all it was a nice loop and I wasn't as winded as I was last time I went out (last Friday when my cold had settled into my chest making me REALLY winded)! My leg muscles enjoyed the change of use and pace. My lungs while not great, weren't terrible considering that I am still fighting this damned cold.

Tonight will be a short walk with the boys, just to get a few miles in. I know I need to rest to fight this cold, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. After almost 3 weeks moving from my face in my sinus', to swelling up my tonsils, turning my throat to fire with a sore cough, to making my chest heavy and mucus-y feeling, it has settled in my right ear as a tremendous ear ache. Only because I have this ridiculous fear that if left untreated it could be a brain infection or something am I going to get some antibiotics from a doctor!

By the way, Blue went running with Matt last night, they did 5 miles. They both did great. Petey stayed home with me and was rewarded with a rawhide.
