It's not a great day today, my feet are killing me. I think I have the beginning of planter ficitus. My two pairs of running shoes that I purchased May of '06 seem to have ran out of miles on me. I had heard before that running shoes only last 400-500 miles, but I thought since I wasn't running they would last longer. Granted my feet are in major pain. We were doing so good, I was excited to make my first 100 mile month- then the rain, then my feet.
Last night I got home early and Matt wasn't home so I got the boys ready and then called him. He was down the street at the coffee shop and said he wouldn't be ready to come home for a couple hours. The boys and I walked around the neighborhood on a perfect Atlanta fall evening until he was ready. We met up at Barnes & Noble and walked home together. I love making the boys wait outside while I go inside a store. They were tied to the bike rack, so I could see them through the windows, they sat attentively and waited. When we came out Petey barked and howled up a storm like he always does when he is happy to see us!
On the walk last night I noticed I was walking on the outside of my feet so they didn't hurt as much. By the time we got home and I cooked a quick easy dinner they were so sore I could barely walk. Matt rubbed them and they were more tender than I expected. So it was time to get new ones. Which I did this morning. After trying on about 8 pair at the local running store Phillipidies I found the perfect pair, the exact same ones I had before!
Missing a few walks really puts me in a mood. Tomorrow I'm going to only walk about 20 minutes in the new shoes and hopefully will be good on Monday. Then next month, we will conquer 150 miles!
