Flower Power

In the mornings I ride to work straight out of bed, then I get ready at my buildings gym downstairs in the basement. It's a little tiny gym, but there are showers and shampoo and hair dryers and clean fresh towels every day (included in my $35/month membership). My membership also includes David. He is very friendly, easy to talk to and always looks wide awake at 6:30 in the morning.
David always asks about my ride in and listens like he is interested as I recount the details of each day's ride. I appreciate that and have gotten used to him being part of my morning routine.

This week it's been almost chilly in the morning. (I can't believe I'm saying this!) This morning I was lying in bed listening to the NPR weather report and they said 58*! I jumped out bed, Burrrr! That's chilly! After a few bedazzled moments of me thinking wow! 58* is chilly-what- will- I- wear- I realized that means I just shouldn't wear sleeveless which I normally do. After laughing out loud at myself I dug out my favorite short sleeve jersey. It's not super lightweight, but it's not a winter jersey either, and with the zipper it's just right for 58*-80* swing like we were expecting today. There was an article in Bicycling this month about how the jersey makes the man and will win the ladies attention. I was thinking about how cool this jersey is just what the article was talking about as I slipped the flower power on and zipped up.

I bought this jersey when I had my road bike and rode the Silver Comet Trail daily. It matched my flame orange Trek 1000- I was stylin. I feel pretty cool when I wear this particular jersey, it fits just right and has a nice comfy feel to it. And the colors are dazzling, don't you think? I really do get lots of compliments on it from other riders.

David asked me about my ride, and then snickered, "Nice Shirt."

I was puzzled. "You mean my jersey? This is a really nice bike jersey. I get lots of compliments on it. From other bikers...." I trailed off, confused looking down at the brown flowers.

"Yeah, cuz they can't miss you in it." He laughed again, this time with the blond guy that also works mornings with the goofy eyes.

I can't believe they made fun of my jersey! After thinking about it all day. I came home and took pictures of me in it. I think it looks really good on me. Great colors, and great for riding in traffic so I'm easily seen, and it's unique- just what you want in a jersey! Non-bike people can be such dorks sometimes.

The jersey is wonderful. I love the sunny colors & floral (in a not overly cutesy/girly way) print.

Don't listen to those guys. All that time hanging around the basement has obviously warped them. They should get outside more.
