The Most Romantic Gesture EVER

I always wondered how I'd know that I found "the one".... I found this beauty up in Matt's neck of the woods and emailed him the ad saying "I'd REALLY like to have this bike!" It was SO cute!

I have developed this habit of cruising the craigslist BIKE ads in Atlanta, Anchorage (if I found something REALLY great my mom could go get it and ship it), Allentown & Philadelphia up where Matt is, Birmingham Alabama it's not too far a drive...and recently I started looking abroad (on craigslist) and dreaming of a European bike kinda like Hank. That's what I do when I'm not reading blogs or following the Tour de France. Don't tell my boss. Just kidding. Kind of.When Matt and I met it was obvious I had a little bit of a like for the bikes. I had 4 when we met. Through losing my job and downgrading...I mean SIMPLIFYING my life I sold them down until I had just beater old Rocky. Then I added Goosey. I'm always looking for another, it's like my wanting a new puppy when I see one. I just can't help it.

Anyways, Matt is always telling me "you don't NEED another bike. You have one. or two perfectly good bikes." He's so reasonable. I love how it drives me crazy. Therefore I thought I was being SOOO silly when I sent him the email about this one. But the shape of the frame is so cool and unique, and SOOO dutchess. I love the lights, and rack, and adorable plastic skirt guard so I can wear long flowy skirts.....ok I could buy some long flowy skirts to wear! Especially if I had this bike. And the little bell is so perfect with the girlie colors! You don't see a bike in Atlanta like this everyday.
I called Matt Monday night and asked what he was doing.
"I'm picking up your bike." He said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"The bike from the ad you sent me." he said like SILLY!

"Get out. You are not." I tist and rolled my eyes into the phone.

"Yeah. I just picked it up. It was a good deal." he said.

WHAT?! A good deal?! The man who says I don't need another bike! I already have a perfectly good bike. Now it's reasonable to add a 3rd bike because it was a "good deal". Could those be the magic words I didn't know on previous good bike finds? I can't believe he bought it for me. This is THE most romantic thing a man has EVER done for me! I think this is 'the one'. I can't wait to ride it! Excuse me I have to go buy some long flowy skirts now!

Ha ha. I thought you were referring to the man as "the one," not the bike. However, I know how you feel; I feel the same way about shoes and I'd feel similarly about a man who bought me shoes ;) I also get what you're saying about bikes. I look on Craigslist Atlanta sometimes too. It makes me feel like there's less of an excuse for people not to ride bikes when I see all the great deals out there and that gives me hope. I also daydream of having a bike collection. I would like a vintage Schwinn low rider and a lightweight bike or British utility bicycle, something lighter than my vintage Ross 3-speed. There a lot of hills here and sometimes I want to be a little lazy and not have so much to push against gravity.
