Recover(ING)
48 days until the ING Marathon!
I was dreading the Thanksgiving Half Marathon, but am REALLY excited about the ING.
Friday my ankle was sore as a side-dish to my achilles tendonitis. Saturday my heel was still sore, but not painful like it had been. Sunday (yesterday) no pain or soreness- nor today. SO.....I'm going to give it a try tonight and walk a relativly flat 3 miles route and see how it goes. If I feel any pain I will turn around and rest more. However I'm hoping that if the pain is gone, I can start back (lightly) on my training schedule this weekend. I basically quit the job at the bakery, since the doctor says that the achilles tendonitis is generally a 'standing' injury. At the bakery I stood for 8 hours straight on both weekend days doing the cashiering. I believe this was a big contributor to the injury. I am not as young as I used to be- is the conclusion to that.
I really want to get in an 18, 19 and 20 miler before I start to taper the 3 weeks prior to the big day. I think it will do my mental readiness big wonders to get in 20 before I attempt this 26.2- my original plan was to get to 23.2, but with missing 2 whole weeks with the injury I'm not going to make that. I am accepting that the last few miles on March 30th are going to be (mentally) grueling, as I will be of the last to arrive which means they will be breaking down the course, and I'll be exhusted. Regardless I think it's going to be good.
On another note, we found a new place to move to. It's right smack in midtown which is a great location for us. We'll be moving in between the 1st and the 15th so that is now factored into our training plans as well.
Wish me luck tonight- No pain will equal my gain tonight!
