First 100 Mile Week

Today's Temp: 84* High
Today's Miles on Bike: 29.58
This Week's Bike Miles: 100.68

I'm pretty proud of that 100 Miles. It's been my goal since I started full time bike commuting to rack up a 100 miles in a normal week. It was a good week, even with the one driving day last Wednesday. Rock on to me!
For our long, fun ride today the cuz and I did a Tour de ATL just out sightseeing and at a nice slow touring pace. I found this loop on Bikely.com which was our starting point for our route today. It was a really nice route! Lots of different neighborhoods and low traffic streets. We saw a lot of other bikers out in their full kits, so I figured it was a good route!
Turned out Lizzie was not feeling 100% as she didn't hydrate properly yesterday and has started a new workout routine, so it added up to a slow ride today. She pushed through and we ended up doing the miles we planned anyways mostly because we got lost several times. opps!
Here she is putting on a good show of feeling good! We had a lot of fun.
I really enjoy riding with her. I've done most of my riding by myself. I've only had one other girlfriend that I rode with back in Alaska who one day confessed to me that she didn't really love riding bikes, she just liked that it was a good workout. I was totally disheartened, I had always thought she loved bikes like me. I've grown to realize most people that ride don't have the affection like I do and I've accepted it. I guess it's like guys that love cars, or fishing, I just really like bikes. Anyways, I've had a few riding partners over the years, but riding in Atlanta with the traffic and with every street different, you just kinda have to 'click' together to ride well together I've found. Lizzie and I seem to ride pretty well together. Sometimes riding side by side, and taking turns leading the way, it's always comforable riding with her. It's nice to have company and we always laugh a lot!

Meanwhile others were rocking out 100 miles in just hours! Lance finished 2nd at the Leadville 100....Fatty finished too! Geoff rocked the Alaskan 100 Miler Resurrection Pass Race...on foot! Jill reports that he did it in just over 17 hours! Unreal. It took me a whole week!

Wow. 100 miles in a week is impressive. That it was 100 miles in August, in Atlanta, is amazing.

Great job. Any plans to expand the weekend touring group? (please, please please)

100 miles/week is mighty fine and easy to do when you've got good routes.

That East Atlanta Neighborhood route caught my eye several months ago. It does hit a lot of my favorite routes around this part of town.

There's one I put together that you may enjoy. I call it a Medley because it borrows from a number of routes including the one you listed. It covers a little more distance (34 miles) and features a couple of secret short cuts (behind Emory and through Avondale Estates).
