Stone Mountain Saturday

This Week's Bike Miles: 104.96
August Miles: 350.98

It was an average commuting week. I rode all days except Wednesday when I took Blue to the vet up in Marietta, which is about an hour drive. This is my second week this month of 100+ miles. I'm pretty excited about that. Matt and I rode to Stone Mountain yesterday, which put me over the 100 mark. It is about 18 miles from our house and then we had lunch here....
in the little sleepy town of Stone Mountain. I was hungry so I ate everything on my plate, it really wasn't that good though. Live and learn, they had a really limited menu and we were starving. It was cool because we ate outside on this little second floor deck and we rode out there together.
It was a gray day, lots of clouds and wind from Tropical Storm Fay from Florida. We fought the wind the whole way out there, but it pushed us home. They have been saying rain, rain, storm a comin' all week long. We even got a severe weather warning on Wed at work, but no weather. It just isn't blue sky and 95* and they make a big deal like it's 'severe.' Saturday morning we were going to get going at 8am, but the doppler didn't look good and the weather report was saying severe, severe weather coming this morning! We talked about baggin it all together or just doing a short ride or a long walk with the boys. We walked over to the store with the boys and then started to just sit around. I jumped up- "I HAVE to go ride!" I told Matt at about 10:30.

He said Ok I'll go too then. We decided to just start heading to Stone Mtn and see how the weather was in about an hour. There were a ton of cyclists out and the route was so easy and fun (other than the wind!) because it was cool and sprinklin here and there just lightly. So we kept going....and it all worked out and we had a great time!

Here is Matt making his 'go ahead and take my picture' face....
Here I am trying to make the same face...
Today we just hung around the house and recovered from a busy week. It's really great having him home. We have been adjusting to living together again and getting all his stuff put away in our little tiny place, and just spending time together. That's why I haven't been bloggin much lately, but I've also been working on something new....more to come on that soon!

Congrats on another 100+ mile week! There's not a lot of cyclists who get that many miles.

Stone Mountain is one of our favorite bike destinations. You might enjoy what we call the South Approach (route on bikely.com).

I like the German Restaurant in Stone Mountain (where . It's been there for years. You may have found better atmosphere on the 2nd floor deck however.
